On November 6, 2022, during the 27th UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (CAS) — CYWater's secretariat base — hosted a side event at the China Corner titled “Addressing Climate Change and Flood Disaster Challenges.”
The session brought together experts from the University of Birmingham, Beijing Normal University, North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, Sun Yat-sen University, and Lanzhou University to share the latest research and discuss climate-change response strategies and flood-risk management. The discussion explored how new scientific understanding can support disaster-prevention and mitigation measures at all levels of government.
